Barangay Oribi is north of Rancho across a branch of the Abra River. It was said that a big sailboat was wrecked in the sea west of the purok. On one of the wrecked boat, the word “Oribi” in big letters was inscribed. The people of the pueblo surmised that the wrecked sailboat was Oribi. For this reason, the purok where plank had drifted and had been found was named “Oribi.”
