Shield
It is derived from the
provincial seal of Ilocos Sur where the town is
located.
Six Stars
It represent the six (6)
rancherias namely: Lucbuban, Kinmarin, Boguibog,
Baybayading, Madarang and Balidbid which compose the
township.
Mountains
It depicts the historic
Tirad Pass, where the great Gen. Gregorio del Pilar
defended the nation’s cause for freedom against the
American forces.
River
It
represents the great Buaya River lining up between
mountains and hills, the source of water supply for
the basic food grains and agricultural products in the
town.
Mortar & Pestle
It symbolizes rice and
corn which are the basic products of the town,
“Bauguen” is the Ilocano translation of pounding or
treshing, using mortar and pestle.
Agricultural Lands
It depicts the area
where the townspeople derive their farm products such
as rice, corn, tobacco.
