Municipality of Suyo lies in the southern portion of
the Province of Ilocos Sur. It is located at
longitudes 120 27’36” to 120 37’10” east and latitudes
16 55’38” to 17 02’12” north. The Municipality of
Sigay bound it in the northeast, in the east and
southeast by the Municipality of Tagudin and Northwest
by the Municipality of Sta. Lucia. The Municipality
of Suyo is part of what is generally referred as the
“interior towns” of Ilocos Sur, lying at the
intermediate uplands of the Cordillera Mountain range.
Suyo is about 1 km. from
Tagudin, which is the nearest settlement node with a
radius of influence covering Sugpon, Alilem, Suyo,
Sigay and Cervantes – all the southern interior
municipalities that are also within the influence of
the Tagudin-Suyo-Cervantes Road.
Suyo’s location allows
it to become the critical contact point between
sellers of agricultural products from Cervantes and
Sigay and the lowland traders and buyers from Tagudin.
